The Caribbean Federation of Police Welfare Associations (CFPWA) held its Fifth Annual General Meeting, at The Grenada Rex Resorts 25th – 28th May, 2016 under the theme “Building bridges to provide sustainable and effective representation throughout the region”. At the opening ceremony one minute of silence was observed, in recognition of those officers who have died in the line of duty and of natural causes around the region Addresses were made by Inspector Simon Douglas acting chairman of the Grenada Police welfare association; Deputy Commissioner of Police of Grenada Mr. Franklyn Redhead, The President of the Federation Sergeant Brenton Smith also addressing the gathering was the  Prime Ministers representative Sen. Dr Winston Garaway. The feature address was delivered by Dr. Damian Graves.

The meeting was deemed very successful. The Federations website was officially launched (www.cfpwa.org). Among the matters discussed was a strategic plan, for the next three years. Working along with the Regional Security System (RSS), for the implementation of a accreditation system, which seeks to standardize the professionalism of Police Officers within the region. A compensational package for the families of officers that die in the line of duty.

Elections were held and the following positions were filled, President Brenton Smith, St Vincent and the Grenadines, Vice President Camron Laure St Lucia, First Vice President Anand Ramesar Trinidad and Tobago, Adrian Peters General Secretary Grenada, Dwight Smith Assistant Secretary Bahamas, Dionne Pollard Treasurer Guyana, Raymond Thom Public Relations Officer Trinidad and Tobago, Parnel Brown Protocol Officer St. Vincent and the Grenadines,  Trustees Sean Mc Call British Virgin Islands and Mohan Khan Guyana.
